Oh, how we’ve grown! I first took this awesome family’s portraits last year. We met in August one evening at one of my favorite Ann Arbor locations; I had a fun a new lens, a 85 1.8, and was filled with excitement at the prospect of helping to document their family history. Here is a link to last year’s session. Not only has their little girl gotten one year older, but I have learned so much more about photography. In addition to upgrading my lenses (I shot this year’s session with my Canon 24-70 2.8Lii), I also took a class on how to use natural light. I think the class alone dramatically improved my photography. I hope you can see the difference in the color and clarity of my images to see how understanding how to use the sun (even if it is behind rain clouds) results in something so much more magical.
Our session this year took place at one of their favorite parks in Saline. It was a rainy day, and we dodged in and out of the pavilion before the storm really rolled in. I think we got some lovely shots of one of the loveliest families I know.
