Thick as Thieves: a sibling session {Ann Arbor Child Photographer}

I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to capture portraits of my own kiddos this fall like I did last year. While I take thousands, yes thousands, of candid photographs of them throughout the year, I love to take more formal portraits of them in the fall. The fall leaves are nice to include in the frame, but it is really because they both have birthdays this time of year. I also love to schedule sessions an hour or two before sunset when the light is just perfect and allows little wild things to run and be themselves. We don’t have to hide in the shade and worry about squinty eyes or harsh shadows. During the summer that can be more like 8 o’clock at night. This time of year, 4:30 was perfect.

While I may have missed the leaves this year, we still found a beautiful spot with harvest tones that add warmth to this special session. This year both kids are in school and miss each quite a bit. As we drop my daughter off first, they declare their love for each other, even if they were squabbling in the back seat moments before. While I certainly love to capture smiles and want to remember how they look at this age, I also want to remember how they made each other feel and made each other laugh.

Here is a peek at our evening together.
