I realized it had been awhile since I took some more formal photographs of my own daughter, so we decided to go out past bedtime to the gorgeous peony gardens in “The Arb” of Ann Arbor. Last year we remembered seeing a lot of butterflies. My daughter grabbed her pink butterfly wings and bug catcher, and I packed my camera. She was determined to capture a butterfly; and I was determined to capture her love and joy of being outside and playing with bugs. It was a perfect night with perfect light: my favorite girl with my favorite flowers.
